MONK'S ROCK FULL DAY HIKE

This hike has little elevation change as it travels through the Electrico river valley throughout much of the journey.  You’ll walk through enchanting subantarctic forests of lengas and cross rolling streams before reaching the Los Troncos campsite.  A picturesque place set alongside the river and sheltered by an erratic boulder that pays tribute to a Salesian monk who was one of Patagonia’s most avid early explorers.  A short trek from here, you’ll reach Electrico Lake and the Marconi Glacier before a quick climb to the rarely seen northern face of Mt. Fitz Roy.
